Entrant Requirements

1.            This is an open hobbyist only show which provides private koi & goldfish enthusiasts the opportunity to compete and enjoy the friendship of fellow hobbyists. All fish entered must be owned by and accompanied by the registered entrant. Fish dealers/brokers and their families, even part time or informal fish dealers*, are not allowed to show fish in this competition. Fish dealers may assist their customers by transporting fish to the show for them. However, the actual owner of the fish must be present to sign the official entry form at the registration desk before the judging begins in order to qualify to receive awards.  If a winner is found to be in violation of this ruling, any and all awards will automatically be forfeited. This ruling is intended to prevent any misperceptions regarding the integrity of the fish dealers we depend on.
2.            Past Grand Champions: Once a fish has won Grand Champion at a NWK&G Show it is not eligible to participate in subsequent NWK&G shows.
3.            Koi that have visible signs of illness or injury will not be allowed to compete in the show. The decision of the Show Chair will be final.
4.            Koi that have been exposed in any way to Koi Herpes Virus (KHV) are not eligible for this show and should not be transported to the show site. Examples include, but are not limited to: surviving a KHV infection, sharing the same water system with a Koi with KHV, sharing the same water system with a KHV survivor, receiving a vaccination of a live virus KHV serum.
5.            At the close of the show, Sunday at 4 p.m., all entrants must be present to claim their fish.  No fish will be allowed to be bagged or removed until this time and officially released by the Show Chairman. Entrants from out of town will be given priority for fish removal and NWK&G Club members will assist them as desired. Oxygen and rubber bands will be provided by the NWK&G Club, but entrants are responsible for their own bags and carrying containers. Fish bags will be available for sale at the NWK&G Club’s sales table.
6.            Any fish not claimed at the conclusion of the show will become the property of the NWK&G Club.

Pre-show Preparations

1.            Very Important: For the protection of your fish, feeding should be discontinued a minimum of 5 days prior to the show. Fish that are digesting food need more oxygen and are more easily stressed.
2.            Examine all fish carefully. Sick fish will be disqualified. Be sure that your fish are in good health. Fish with any signs of sickness or parasites will be disqualified. For the health and safety of your fish, look them over carefully, top to bottom before bringing them to the show site. Even a wound or sore that is healing will disqualify. The decision of the Show Chairman or fish entry committee will be final in this situation.
3.            Due to the English style of the show, all entrants must provide their own net(s) for each tank.
4.            Panning tubs will be provided by the NWK&G Club for use during judging and the show.

Delivery & Removal of Fish

1.            Fish check in will be available on Friday between 11:00 A.M. and 7 P.M. and Saturday between 7:30 A.M. and 8:30 A.M. Late arrivals after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday will neither be accepted nor judged.
2.            Each entrant will be assigned a number according to the sequence of arrival.
3.            Very Important. Each entrant must remain with their fish until the fish are measured, classified, and released into their tank(s). Entrants having multiple tanks may designate which of their fish go into which tank as long as the tank load criteria is maintained.
4.            Only fish being considered for competition in the show are allowed in the show tanks at the time of judging. Any “non-competing” fish cannot be added to an entrant’s tank until judging is completed. If any new fish are added to a tank, it must stay within the fish load guidelines determined.
5.            All entries will be left on exhibit for the duration of the show, until 4 p.m. Sunday. Please make your travel and flight plans accordingly.
6.            All necessary and reasonable care will be taken by the NWK&G Club to safeguard entered fish. NO ONE IS TO HANDLE, FEED, CLEAN, ADJUST, OR CHANGE THE ENVIRONMENT OF THE FISH except the Show Chairman or water quality committee.
7.            No fish will be moved from the original tank it was assigned without first notifying the head of the fish entry committee and approved by the Show Chairman to ensure all is done in an orderly fashion. Fish moved without this approval will not be judged.
8.            No one but the show’s water quality personnel will be allowed to add chemicals or make water changes to the tanks. If an entrant has concerns regarding their tanks water quality, they should contact the above designated person(s) for any needed action that may be required.
9.            All necessary and reasonable care will be taken by the NWK&G Club to safeguard entered fish, including 24-hour monitoring. Therefore, all participants of the show will agree to hold the NWK&G Club, its officers, and members blameless against any loss or injury to the fish. Anyone wishing to inspect their fish must contact the Show Chairman or head of the fish entry committee.

Judging

1.            Prior to judging, all fish will be examined and certified by the fish entry committee to be in the proper size and class. If an error is made, corrections of classification will be made during judging, if possible, without disrupting the flow of the show. This will not include optional classifying of gin rin. The entrant must make the class placement decision on gin rin at the time of check-in, rather than after viewing the competition.
2.            Fish determined unhealthy will be disqualified from competition.
3.            Judging will begin at approximately 10 a.m. Saturday following the close of registration and fish check-in.
4.            During the judging, entrants and spectators will be allowed to observe and listen to the judges’ comments, however, no communications whatsoever with the judges is permitted. Any individual in violation of the ruling will be asked to leave the area. If the violator is an entrant, this will result in his/her disqualification from the competition.
5.            The decision of the judges and/or the Show Chairman is final. Any contingencies not covered by these rules will be subject to the discretion of the Show Chairman.
